Dear President Putin…

UPDATED Wednesday 8:30 p.m.

Not so long ago, President Joe Biden referred to President Vladimir Putin as a “killer.” Biden was probably right, but his last physical confrontation was against the legendary Corn Pop, many years ago. The current Biden should channel the long-ago Biden to draft a speech such as this one that President Bykofsky would give.

Dear President Putin:

You have twice made reference to nuclear weapons. It is a horrible mistake to even mention this, but since you did — heed me: The U.S. has a missile with your name on it, and we know where you are every minute of the day and night.

“President Bykofsky” at the presidential podium at FDR’s home in Hyde Park, N.Y.

Should you give an order to employ nukes, it will be the last order you give. No more bare-chested horse rides, no more nights with your mistress, no more counting your billions, no more poisoning your political opponents.

You will be dead. That is a promise you can take to the bank, should they ever open again.

Some analysts here think you are crazy. I do not. I do not believe you want to die, along with your mistress, and your children. The U.S. and NATO have been more than patient, but our patience is at an end. We will not declare a ”no fly zone,” but we will send arms to Ukraine, just as you sent arms to our enemies.

Don’t pretend that didn’t happen.

If you resort to biological or chemical weapons, NATO will consider that an escalation and will furnish MIGs to Ukraine, plus another step to be determined.

Now I speak to the leaders of the Russian military. Your job is to protect your country and your people. If you start a nuclear war, you know both will be destroyed. You know the U.S. will not fire first. You also know if we are attacked, our response will be immediate, overwhelming, and devastating.

Don’t test us.

To the Russian people, our beef is not with you, as people. Our fight is with your leaders and we are sorry you will be made to suffer. As someone once said, life is unfair. The suffering your leaders have brought to Ukraine will return to you if they go too far.

Don’t test the U.S.

Stu Bykofsky
